Go To Many was founded by Lisa Remi Hamilton in response to the clear and persistent education disparities within the education system affecting children of colour. After the birth of her first child, Lisa chose to volunteer at a local school to better understand how the system was working in practice. What she encountered was deeply concerning. Many underperforming state schools lacked essential resources, experienced teachers, and the community support structures needed to help every child thrive. She also observed a strong link between school performance and the socio-economic background of the students, highlighting how inequality outside the classroom continues to shape outcomes within it. Concerned about the potential impact this environment could have on her own child, Lisa made the decision to homeschool her son before he began reception. She wanted to ensure he would not face avoidable setbacks—particularly as a child of colour navigating a system that was not designed with him in mind. In her efforts, she also sought scholarship opportunities to provide better educational resources and experiences for her child.

Lisa’s decision to homeschool proved transformative. By the time her son was ready to enter formal education, he was already performing ahead of his peers—confident, curious, and academically prepared. However, as her responsibilities grew, continuing to homeschool became unsustainable. With that came a difficult fear: that the progress he had worked so hard to achieve could quickly be undone. Refusing to let her son fall behind, Lisa began searching for alternatives. Private education offered the standard and support she wanted for him, but it came at a cost far beyond what she could comfortably afford. Determined to give her child the best possible start, she reached out for community support, and together with her family, they were able to secure him a place at a local private school through available scholarship opportunities. Lisa didn’t stop there. She took a bold leap and launched her own business, fully committing herself to generating the income needed to keep her son in that educational environment. She worked tirelessly, driven by a clear purpose: to protect her child’s potential. Yet, despite her resilience and determination, the financial pressure remained relentless. The ongoing school fees, combined with the arrival of a second child, placed an ever-increasing strain on her resources. Lisa’s journey is not just a personal story—it reflects a much wider reality, highlighting the education disparities that too many families face as they fight hard simply to access the level of education their children deserve.

After three years in a state school following a necessary relocation, Lisa remained focused on one goal: finding a pathway back into a more supportive and academically challenging environment for her son. During this time, it became increasingly clear that he was not only capable but exceptionally advanced—particularly in mathematics. Determined to create opportunities where barriers existed, Lisa explored every possible route back into private education, including various scholarship opportunities. She discovered that from Year 7, her son could be eligible for a scholarship, a bursary, or a combination of both. With this in mind, she invested in additional tuition to prepare him for the 11+ examination. Her son rose to the challenge. Through dedication, ability, and the right support, he secured a place at a highly regarded private school—fully funded. While Lisa’s journey is both inspiring and uplifting, it also highlights a difficult truth: not every child is given the same opportunity to realize their potential, which is a reflection of the education disparities that exist in our society. This is why Go To Many exists. Its mission is simple but urgent—to break down the financial barriers that prevent so many children of colour from accessing the high-quality, life-changing education they deserve, emphasizing the importance of community support. Because talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not.
