Go To Many was founded by Lisa Remi Hamilton to address the very evident disparity within the education system for children of colour.

After the birth of her first child, Lisa decided to volunteer in a local school to acquire some insight into the current education system, What she discovered was a very dire situation:

  • Underperforming state schools often lack resources, experienced teachers, and support systems necessary to help all students succeed.
  • There is a correlation between school performance and the socio-economic background of the student population.

Lisa then decided to home school her son before he started reception, as she was very concerned that the education system he faced would cause unnecessary setbacks, especially as a child of colour...

Lisa's home schooling paid off in more ways than one. Her efforts contributed to her son being ahead by the time he was ready to begin school. Time constraints meant that she was unable to continue to home school, however Lisa was concerned that her child would fall behind. She then explored the option of private education, however, affordability was the main obstacle.

Through the help of several family members, her son was able to secure a place in a local private school.

Lisa then embarked on starting her own business and working to cover ongoing fees. Despite her efforts, her finances were insufficient to cover ongoing school fees, along with a second child coming along...

After having to relocate her son into a state school for three years, Lisa explored her options for returning her son into private education once again. Her son was identified as being advanced and particularly so in the area of mathematics.

She discovered that her son could qualify for a scholarship or bursary or a combination of both from year 7.

Her son received extra tuition to prepare for the 11 plus exam and her son went on to secure a place in a prominent private school with a full funding.

Whilst her story is both an inspiration and an uplifting one, not every child will have such an opportunity.

Go To Many's mission is to bridge the financial barrier preventing so many children of colour being shut out from the academic, life-changing experience they deserve...
